Behind the Pattern - Preppy Peony

This design grew out of my love of peonies and memories of my Gram. She loved her garden, and who doesn't love a gorgeous peony flower! She grew the big bomb type variety with a million petals and a scent that perfumed her entire living room.

Each summer she would pick the first luscious bloom and float it in an antique pink bowl she had found in an antique shop. I still own that bowl and I still pick the first flower and place it in that vase just like she did. I think of her often, but especially during our annual floral ritual.
